The time of classic televisions which were based upon CRT is long away. Today, we can see boom in flat resolutions which are everywhere. We can get it for good price so they are available almost for every interested person. This is very long time, when we could see first flat tv at the price of family car. We can choose from two types of flat screen tv – plasma and LCD. They look similar, because they are relatively light despite of their large picture areas.

We have a lot of aspects of which we can choose our flat tv (flat screen tv). We should follow diagonal, aspect ratio, distinction, brightness and contrast, lifetime, HTPC and play different games, and other.

Diagonal

It is very important, when we need screen in definite size which will be passed for example in our living room. When we know right size, than the choose is very simply. LCD televisions have proportions from 13 to 65 – inch and plasma televisions (flat screen tv) are from 30 to 84 – inch.

When we want to buy a new flat tv so for us there is optimal 16:9 model, because most of telecasting in all the world will be presently in this size. This modell is in foreing countries just normal.

Distinction

This is very favourite in this time because of HD films, HD telecasting and other HD records. There are not almost any different in distinction between plasma and LCD. Just LCD televisions (flat screen tv) have for same price a higher distinction. But in this time there are differences smaller and smaller. On the market there are appeared mainly HD ready models (768 lines) and Full HD models (1080 lines). We have to know if we want more expensive modell and possibility to see films in the best quality (but this is only on badly accessible media like HD DVD and others) or cheaper modell which is better for normal telecasting.

Brightness and contrast

Plasma televisions (flat screen tv - flat tv) have considerably better contrast and LCD televisions have any higher brightness. The differences are given by physical character of these technologies. Thanks to higher brightness is LCD better when we watch television in the day-time and the sun is shining into our room and plasma has advantage at night when we can appreciate its contrast.

Lifetime

In general is lifetime for flat tv (flat screen tv) about 50 000 and it can be as many of 80 000 hours. It is maybe about 25 years. But it depeneds on producer.

HTPC and play games

We know that modern screen (flat tv) are used also like computer screen. We can play modern games or search on internet. It is very comfortable for customers. But we must know that plasma televisions (flat screen tv) do not like static image so that LCD televisions (flat tv)) are better for it.

We have problems with flat tv (flat screen tv) mainly when we buy lower class than there are bad colours and difficulties with response.We can see response on LCD (both on computers and on televisions). It has been appeared in very fast scene in action films or in sport´s broadcast. But there are also a lot of advantages for example smaller tiredness eyes, bigger size and wide-angle screen.

In this time there is appeared a new technology of flat tv. The name of this technology is OLED (“Organic Light Emitting Diode“). It is very important thing that it is made of organic material. There is a low factory price and it is very simple in production (like children´s folder). It has a special display. It can be for example see-through or mirrored so that when the display is turned off it can be like perfect mirror and the like. Another interesting thing is the stuff of OLED. It has limber stuff so maybe we will can roll down and tidy up our television in our flat. Other utilization of OLED will be in area lighting. There will be smooth lighting, small consumption and no shadow. Unfortunately it has also some disadvantages for example short lifetime (but it will be compensated by a low price) and regulation brightness by software.
